What is a Channel?
Channels are the communication, distribution, and sales networks that connect your company to your buyers. They aren’t just about making a sale; they cover every step of the buyer's journey.
When analyzing a channel layout, you will notice that channels are generally broken down into five distinct phases:
- Awareness: How do we raise awareness about our company’s products and services?
- Evaluation: How do we help customers evaluate our organization’s value proposition?
- Purchase: How do we allow customers to purchase specific products and services?
- Delivery: How do we deliver a value proposition to customers?
- After-sales: How do we provide post-purchase customer support?
You can mix direct channels (like an e-commerce website or an in-house sales team) with indirect channels (like retail stores, distributors, or third-party online marketplaces) when creating your operational strategy.
Questions to Ask When Filling Out This Box
